NPT - Cod Spirit

Spirit of a Codfish. Based on original drawing by Timothy Kangleg for Hans Himmelheber, probably in Nash Harbor in 1937. (see Himmelheber's 1993 book Eskimo Artists, page 57.) According to the 1940 Mekoryuk census Timothy "Kungelak" was born in 1910 at St. Michael, although in photos of him taken by Himmelheber in 1936-37 he appears to be younger.
